Owners Corner : We are very excited about having a great Spring season as a bookend to a great winter season! The golf course is still in excellent condition and considering the amount of play we have had it’s really quite amazing. We continue to be the best value around and will always strive to offer the best rates in town…and with continued improvements we will be able to offer the best “Public” course conditions in the county. We are presently looking into the Driving Range expansion this summer as well as future expansions of our Pickleball Programs, our Golf Tournament Programs and our various “non golf” League opportunities (Darts, Bocce & Pool). Swimming Pool memberships are coming in every week and the Tiki bar is very well attended on a regular basis. We are preparing for the departure of many of our Northern guests but we expect more participation from our year round residents and the regulars who frequent the club. Spring is an awesome time of year to get out and enjoy Country Club living here in a relaxed atmosphere! We look forward to seeing all those happy faces enjoying the perfect weather! Yay! Now on a personal note our daughter Renee and her husband Kam have welcomed Miya Lethermon, 7lbs 15 oz. to our family as our first grand daughter on April 1st! Yee Haa! - Jacques & Gretchen PRESENT(not new anymore) PUB PHONE NUMBER: (941) 721-9159 DRESS CODE: We have experienced a very “all inclusive” clientele this year from experienced golfers to beginners, from young to old, from founding members to “never evers”. If you are bringing a “newbee” to the golf course we want to thank you so much for using us as that testing ground as we are a great venue to learn the game on…..and I’m not saying the course is easy….just inexpensive and takes less time to get around as well as having a higher percentage of “teed up” iron shots…yay! Please teach your new friends how to fix ball marks, fill divots, keep carts on paths around tees and greens and give them a clue what kind of clothes to wear. Try to refrain from tattered shorts or cutoff sleeves on the course or in the Pub. It’s fine for the gym but we prefer to have everyone look more County Club than hillbilly….and they won’t know if you don’t tell them. And there is nothing more embarrassing than us having to tell someone that they are dressed inappropriately. Thx! CLUB CHAMPIONSHIP : Our Club Champions for 2023 are Bob Chapman and Joanne Yesko. Both Champions are former winners expanding their portfolios. We utilized 18 of the better holes for the Championship including old #3 & 4 as well ass a “combo” hole using the 18th tee and the 15th green as a hole….it made for some interesting scores! Our winners in the net division were Sally James and Mike Sims. All other players can pick up their participation trophies during our next blizzard. PLAY WHEN YOU WANT GOLF LEAGUE PLAY : Couples Golf: Tuesday is 9 holes and Sunday is 18 holes. Call pro shop at 941-729-7663 to reserve your spot each week…..or any week. Men’s Sunday Quota is a “Non committed” league where you can play any week by simply showing up by 7:30 am and registering at the table in the pro shop. Men’s Weekday Play is Monday, Wednesday and Fridays at 7:15 am….be there to register by 7:10 am. This is a blind draw team play format with full handicaps. Ladies play at 8:00 am Golf Course : The course is in excellent shape especially for this time of year considering the traffic. The greens are green, the tees are still ok and the fringes are excellent overall. We do have a couple weak greens(4 & 5) and the back of #17 green is an eyesore but beyond that everything is looking awesome heading into the Spring! We will be working on expanding cart paths where people just can not seem to stay on them, add crushed shell to the path from 14 to 15, dredge the creek on 14, keep the pond banks trimmed and cart paths edged moving forward. It gets tough to keep up with the grass growing like crazy in the summer but we hopefully have a better handle on the goose grass this year and that will save us a lot of time to do other projects. We have had a little battle with poa annua on a couple of greens but that will die out very soon. We intend to resod a few weak areas but overall we are in excellent position moving forward and Ryan and his crew have a really good handle on it being their second time around. I can’t wait to see what he has in store for us! Staffing : We will see some staffers head north the coming weeks but most notably Chef Milt has stepped down from his part time position to tend to his wife Pam during her battle with cancer and other family matters. We wish them the best and continue to pray for Pam & Milt. PERSONAL TRAINER : Joe Morris is still offering free “trial” sessions as well as the best training price in town($25). I am happy to hear from you if you have something to share and in this case he wasn’t wrong…the last newsletter was depressing…eeeek! It’s the second time in 7 years I actually had to go back and actually read what I wrote. It was kind of a “State of the Union” address except instead of me painting a rosy picture of the Union I painted the truth…which was a bit depressing….so I am sorry for that! I promise I won’t do that again….hopefully. Now with that said, whoever wrote the letter….don’t be shy. You can sign the letter. I can handle constructive criticism. It was good. Thx! 😊 NEW WEBSITE : www.terraceiabaycc.com has been updated and is quicker and more connected then ever before. The Newsletters in the future will be posted monthly on the website as a “Blog” link so that you may access them anytime in case your email does NOT get through to you….like many have experienced. We hope this makes life at the club easier for everyone! WARNING! The Following May Affect Your Life. James 1:19 But let everyone be quick to hear, slow to speak and slow to anger.
